78 JEFFERSON AVENUE

This large brick structure with a hipped slate roof features a projecting bay on the south elevation and paired, double-hung windows with stone lintels.  Originally built as a private residence, a large addition was made in the 1970s to create a home for the Metropolitan School. Though frankly contemporary, the addition is compatible with the historic character of the neighborhood because of its brick, fable ends, and correctly pitched roof.
